The AEJE is a non-profit organization founded in Madrid in 1992 with the aim of promoting and disseminating research and studies on Japan in Spain, as well as promoting and developing cultural ties between both countries.
As stated in its statutes, its objectives are:
In 2017, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the AEJE, Mirai, a scientific journal, was launched in collaboration with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. This is a publication designed to disseminate research on Japan, especially in Spanish.
One of the most important activities of the AEJE is the celebration of biennial conferences in a Spanish institution for Higher Education. At present, the association is promoting the cooperation with Spanish-American researchers.
