The Association of Japanese Studies in Spain

The AEJE is a non-profit organization founded in Madrid in 1992 with the aim of promoting and disseminating research and studies on Japan in Spain, as well as promoting and developing cultural ties between both countries.

As stated in its statutes, its objectives are:

1

To constitute a framework where people interested in researching or promoting all research areas on Japan in Spanish can work together.
2

To encourage encounters between researchers and scholars to foster the transference of knowledge and dissemination of research on Japan.
3

To disseminate the results or any other data of interest through the exchange of information with other researchers or associations related to Japan.

In 2017, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the AEJE, Mirai, a scientific journal, was launched in collaboration with the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. This is a publication designed to disseminate research on Japan, especially in Spanish.

One of the most important activities of the AEJE is the celebration of biennial conferences in a Spanish institution for Higher Education. At present, the association is promoting the cooperation with Spanish-American researchers.
